TRAINING: Elementary Food Hygiene

Course outline:

Best practice in food handling and food hygiene.

Knowledge and understanding of;  bacteria and their characteristics; incidence of food poisoning and its prevention; personal hygiene; the working environment; cleaning practices; common food pests and their control; food safety legislation and hazard analysis; implementation of food safety systems based on HACCP principles.

A multiple choice test completes the course; on successful completion of the test a REHIS Certificate is issued.

Learning Outcomes:

Participants acquire knowledge and understanding of best practice in food handling, preparation, and hygiene standards in order to protect the health of children in their care.

Certification and renewal

It is recommended that staff attend food hygiene refresher training every 3 years from the date of completion of the Elementary Food Hygiene Course.

Free for Partner Providers and ACC staff working in early years.
